February 29, 2016

It’s no secret that here at MOMA we’re crazy about oats! We could talk about oats all day (when we’re not eating them of course) and we want to share our passion with you by sharing the top ten reasons why we think oats are so awesome!

1. Oats are the perfect breakfast on the go!

If you’re constantly in a rush in the mornings, oats are your new best friend. If you’re a commuter, why not get your oat fix with a Yog-Oat Smoothie? These compact creamy drinks are high in protein and a great source of fibre. If you’re more of morning desk dweller, try one of our delicious instant porridge pots that provides you with all the energy you need to get you through to lunch...all you need to do is add hot water and enjoy!

2. Oats keep your heart happy and healthy

Oats are packed full of healthy soluble fiber, which helps reduce the absorption of cholesterol into your bloodstream. By eating as little as one instant porridge sachet per day (70g) you can lower your cholesterol by approximately 5%.

3. Oats can help control your blood pressure

Thanks to their high potassium and calcium properties, oats can help you control your blood pressure, keeping your arteries healthy and prevent lots of nasty diseases like heart disease. Thank you oats!

4. Oats are packed with protein

Your body uses protein as the building block of all of your bones, skin and muscles, so it’s important to include protein for a balanced diet. One of our plain (no added sugar) instant porridge sachets contains a whopping 13g of protein, helping to keep your body in tip-top condition.

5. Oats are full of fiber

The mountains of fiber that’s packed into our beloved oats can keep your tummy happy and healthy. A diet that’s rich in fiber can help with things like constipation and even obesity. Why not try adding some banana or other tasty fruits to your morning oats for an extra fiber boost?

6. Oats help to control your blood sugar

Eating oats can help to control your blood sugar levels and the release of insulin. Oats have a low glycemic index, meaning they raise your blood sugar levels slowly, instead of quickly like a sugary snack or sugar packed cereal. This helps to keep your blood sugar levels stable and can help prevent the development of type 2 diabetes.

7. Oats go with everything!

Not only are oats delicious on their own, but they can also be combined with all sorts of tasty toppings to create the ultimate breakfast. No matter whether you prefer sweet or savoury, oats can be the perfect partner of all your favourite food accessories!

8. Oats keep you satisfied for longer

Oats are packed with fiber that can help to slow down your digestion...don’t worry, this is a good thing! It means that your body takes longer to process your oatie breakfast helping you to feel fuller for longer.

9. Oats give you that much needed energy boost

Oats are jam packed full of complex carbs that slowly release energy throughout the day. So, next time you’re feeling the mid-morning slump, grab an oatie snack to refuel and keep you going all day long.

10. Oats can keep you beautiful on the outside as well as the inside

Not only are oats super good for your insides, they can also be used to treat your outside. Oats have excellent anti-inflammatory and moisturising properties, try pampering yourself with a soothing oat face mask that is both cleansing and exfoliating.
