5 Nutritious DIY Bircher Muesli recipes to kick start your morning

To celebrate the release of the new MOMA Raspberry and Coconut DIY Bircher Muesli, we have put together a range of ways you can dress your muesli. Our DIY Bircher Muesli is quick and easy to make, just add a dollop of yoghurt and a splash of apple juice. Or even try it with almond or soya milk!

 

Even if you’re in a rush in the morning, you still have time to style up your muesli! From Chia seeds to protein powder, we’ve got you covered on the recipe side of things. Take a look at our delicious recipes to get some inspiration for your morning meal.

 

Dark Chocolate and Almond DIY Bircher Muesli

Ingredients:

  • 50g MOMA DIY Bircher Muesli
  • 50g of natural yoghurt
  • 70ml of apple juice
  • A small sprinkle of dark chocolate flakes
  • A few toasted almonds
  • A tablespoon of flax seeds

How to:

Add the yoghurt and apple juice to the muesli, stir, then leave for 5 minutes. Sprinkle the chocolate, almonds, and flax seeds on the top and viola!

Why’s it good?

Almonds are high in zinc levels which is good for the immune system, so if you’re fighting a cold: rack up the almonds! Dark chocolate has been named a super-food as it is a great source of antioxidants which are good for the heart. Flax seeds are packed full of omega-3, an oil which works wonders for the body!

 

Blueberry, Shredded Coconut, and Sunflower Seed DIY Bircher Muesli

Ingredients:

  • 50g MOMA DIY Bircher Muesli
  • 70ml of Almond Milk
  • A handful of fresh blueberries
  • A large pinch of shredded coconut
  • A sprinkle of sunflower seeds

How to:

Pour the almond milk into the Muesli and leave for 5 minutes. Sprinkle the blueberries, shredded coconut and sunflower seeds onto the top of your Muesli and….indulge.

Why’s it good?:

Coconut is a brilliant source of iron which is essential in keeping red blood cells healthy. The blueberries are crammed full of antioxidants, a great super food! Finally, the sunflower seeds are a great source of vitamin E which can act as a protection from air pollution!

 

Goji Berry, Hazelnut, and Peanut Butter DIY Bircher Muesli

Ingredients:

  • 50g MOMA DIY Bircher Muesli
  • 50g of natural yoghurt
  • 70ml of apple juice
  • A handful of goji berries
  • A handful of hazelnuts
  • A dollop of peanut butter

How to:

Add the yoghurt and apple juice to the muesli and leave for 5 minutes. Sprinkle the goji berries and hazelnuts onto the muesli, and add the dollop of peanut butter. Then, you can enjoy the nutty-ness.

Why’s it good?:

Goji berries are an amazing super-food: crammed full of vitamins C, B2, and A. Hazelnuts, like any other nut, are oil packed. This is a treat for your hair and nails. Peanut butter contains potassium which is great for relieving high blood pressure, anxiety and stress. This makes it a brilliant ingredient to have on your breakfast if you have a stressful day in the office ahead of you..

 

Blueberry, Raspberry and Strawberry DIY Bircher Muesli

Ingredients:

  • 50g MOMA DIY Bircher Muesli
  • 50g of blueberry yoghurt
  • 70ml of apple juice
  • A handful of fresh mixed berries (try blueberries, raspberries and strawberries for a sweet and tangy mix)

How to:

Stir in the yoghurt and apple juice to the muesli and leave for 5 minutes. Add in the blueberries and extra raspberries. Cut the strawberries into quarters or halves then add them to the muesli and dig in!

Why’s it good?:

Blueberries pack a punch of antioxidants which are great for the prevention of diseases. If there’s a cold going around at work, pile up the blueberries! The strawberries and extra raspberries are high in vitamin C which is great for the immune system and energy: just what you need in the morning!

 

Almond, Cinnamon, and Banana Protein Bircher Muesli

Don’t be warned off by the protein powder. This product is often perceived as a masculine one which is far from the truth! Many active women think the product is great! It is a fabulous way to incorporate more protein into your diet.

Ingredients:

  • 50g MOMA DIY Bircher Muesli
  • ½ cup of naturally sweetened whey protein powder
  • 50g of natural yoghurt
  • 70ml of apple juice
  • A few toasted almonds
  • Half a banana
  • Half a teaspoon of cinnamon

How to:

Add the whey protein powder to the muesli and stir. Then add in the yoghurt and apple juice, stir and leave for 5 minutes. Cut the banana into slices and then place it on top of the muesli along with the almonds and cinnamon  and… voila!

Why’s it good?:

Almonds are high  in zinc, which is vital for the regulation of the immune system. Banana is a great fibre provider: one banana provides nearly 10% of your daily fibre requirement. Also, cinnamon is a brilliant spice which is known for it’s positive impact on the digestive system.
