Quick Porridge Oat Pots

Porridge pots have become a saviour for those who simply don’t have time to eat until they step into work. Instant Porridge Pots, allow you to prepare a healthy and nutritious breakfast in a matter of minutes. All you need to do is add water to the pot, stir together and you have a delicious and filling breakfast. Make-ahead Banana Yogurt Pots

Making your breakfast the night before you plan to eat is can be a great way to save time and get a head start on in the morning, without having to resort to grab-and-go cereal bars. Here at MOMA we save all of our old jam jars with screw lids, and use these to make these little banana yogurt pots. First, we add a spoonful of thick yogurt to the bottom of the jar then add a layer of mashed up banana and some chopped walnuts. We then repeat these layers until the jar is full. Top Tip: Try squeezing some lime juice on top of your banana layer to prevent it from turning brown, the lime will also add a tropical tang to your banana yogurt pot. The beauty of using a jar is that it fits nicely in the fridge, stands up nicely in a lunch bag and are much less likely to explode than a plastic tub.

Grapefruit

An early morning grapefruit is not only the easiest meal you could prepare, simply cut it in half and grab a spoon, but it also has a huge range of health benefits. Grapefruits are full of fibre, so keeps you feeling full for longer and are also packed full of essential Vitamin C.

Bircher Muesli

Bircher Muesli combines a delicious combination of oats, natural yogurt and juicy fruit pieces. Handy little pots such as MOMA’s Wild Berry Bircher Muesli, allow you to eat on the go or whip out and enjoy in the office.

Breakfast Smoothie Freezer Bags

A great idea from the team here at MOMA, was to make single serving ‘fruit smoothie bags’ which live in the freezer. Smoothie bags can be prepared at the weekend, ready for the busy week ahead, and can be a great way to get the kids involved in fruit preparation.
  • Grab a packet of zip-loc bags, some bananas and a bag of frozen mixed berries.
  • Chop the bananas and divide between the bags along with the berries.
  • Store in the freezer until you want to make your smoothie
In the morning, simply grab a bag from the freezer, empty into your blender and add juice or milk and blend until smooth. The banana adds a great creamy texture to the smoothie. Top Tip: Why not add a spoonful of oats to increase the protein and the thickness of your smoothie? The great thing about these bags is that they can be stored flat in the freezer, so not only do they save you time they are space saving too! All of the above breakfasts can easily be made and stored in the fridge or freezer the night before, to save you even more time in the morning. Now there’s no excuse to not start your day off right and give your body the fuel it needs.
