How to Make Porridge: The Ultimate Guide to the Perfect Bowl 🥣

Incredibly versatile, porridge is filling, nourishing, and the ultimate way to stay fueled until lunch. Whether you’re at home or looking for a convenient option for at the office, a humble bowl of oats is packed with fibre and protein, making it the perfect slow-release energy breakfast for whatever your morning throws at you.

Using MOMA’s Jumbo wholegrain oats, here is how to make porridge in two ways.

Porridge Recipe

Ingredients:
- MOMA Jumbo Wholegrain oats - Our oats are whole, rolled oats. This means when you cook with them, they stay creamy and rich without disintegrating 
- Water (or milk or oat milk)
- Sweeteners: Honey, maple syrup, jams or golden syrup work very well.

Porridge (on the stove):

  • Add 40g of oats and 190ml of milk, oat milk (our MOMA Signature works very well for this) or water into a small saucepan and stir.
  • Bring to a boil on a low heat and gently simmer for 5 minutes (or until you reach your desired consistency).
  • Pour into a bowl and add your toppings of choice (We like to add nuts and seasonal fruits)
  • Enjoy!

Porridge (in the microwave) 

  • Add 40g of oats and 190ml of milk, oat milk (our MOMA Signature works very well for this) or water into a bowl.
  • Pop into the microwave and cook on high for 2-3 minutes, stopping and stirring it regularly.
  • Leave to stand for a few minutes and tuck in.

Tips for delicious porridge:

  • To make your porridge extra creamy, add a splash of MOMA Extra Creamy Oat Drink.
  • For a tropical twist, top with fresh mango and toasted coconut flakes.
  • Who said you couldn't have chocolate for breakfast? To make chocolate porridge, add a spoonful of cocoa and stir well.
