Spring Inspired Oat Toppings

Here at MOMA we love Spring! It may still be nippy outside but the sun is on it’s way and flowers are starting to bloom. Now that the clocks have gone forward it’s officially time to celebrate with some Spring inspired oat recipes!

There are so many reasons to love Spring, the temperatures are starting to rise, the days are getting longer and there are a whole host of seasonal fruits to enjoy! No matter whether you love sweet succulent strawberries, or prefer the refreshing tang of fresh rhubarb, we have created a selection of simple yet delicious Spring inspired oat topping recipes that combine seasonal fruits and our very own MOMA Plain (No Added Sugar) Porridge. Have a go at the recipes below and start celebrating Springtime with us!

Rhubarb Porridge

Ingredients:
  • 1 MOMA Plain (No Added Sugar) Porridge Sachet
  • 100ml water
  • 50ml orange juice
  • 1 handful of fresh or frozen diced rhubarb
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • A pinch of salt
Method: For this tasty rhubarb treat, start by adding the water, orange juice, rhubarb to a pan and bring to the boil. Now bring the temperature down to a medium heat and add your MOMA Plain (No Added Sugar) Porridge Sachet, cinnamon and salt. Cover the pan and let the mixture simmer, stirring every now and again, until the rhubarb is tender (this should take approximately 5 minutes). Finally serve the porridge and top with maple syrup.

Strawberry Porridge

Ingredients:
  • 1 MOMA Plain (No Added Sugar) Porridge Sachet
  • 100g strawberries
  • 15g flaked toasted almonds
Method: This recipe is the easiest one to make! Start by preparing your 1 MOMA Plain (No Added Sugar) Porridge Sachet to pack instructions. Once this is ready, top with strawberries and flaked toasted almonds, simple yet satisfying!

Nectarine Porridge

Ingredients:
  • 1 MOMA Plain (No Added Sugar) Porridge Sachet
  • 150ml water
  • 1 nectarine
  • 1 tsp butter
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • A pinch of salt
Method: Start by slicing one half of the nectarine into thin segments, and the other half into small cubes. Heat a frying pan and add the butter, nectarine segments and half of your cinnamon. Sauté the nectarine for approximately 5 minutes (adding 1-2 tbsp of water if needed) they are soft and caramelised. Prepare your MOMA Plain (No Added Sugar) Porridge Sachet to pack instructions and add the remaining nectarine cubes, cinnamon, vanilla extract and salt. Finally add your caramelised nectarine to the top and enjoy!

Apple and Blackcurrant Porridge

Ingredients:
  • 1 MOMA Plain (No Added Sugar) Porridge Sachet
  • 1 apple
  • 1 handful of fresh or frozen blackcurrants
  • 1 knob of butter
  • 1 tsp honey
Method: For this final recipe, start by coring and dicing the apple. Heat a frying pan and add in the diced apple with the knob of butter and cook on a medium heat until soft and golden. Now prepare the MOMA Plain (No Added Sugar) Porridge Sachet to pack instructions, once it’s ready squash the blackcurrants into the porridge until it becomes purple.
